Monday, October 13th marked the Trust Point Young Professionals’ (TPYP) final quarterly event of 2025. The Q4 event was held in La Crosse, and the day’s activities centered around career growth and leadership fundamentals.
Exploring Career Journeys Through Career Trivia
After a brief update from two TPYP leaders, the group enjoyed the first activity of the day – a trivia session featuring different employees’ career paths. No two career paths were alike! It was a great opportunity to learn more about colleagues and their journeys.
Reflecting on TPYP’s Long-Range Plan
Next, goal group leaders recapped TPYP’s long-range plan, which was completed this year. The plan began in 2024 with goals to “Enhance the TPYP Lifecycle Through Retention of Past and Present TPYP Members” and “Develop and Implement a Large Multi-Community Project.” Goal group leaders shared the great changes and opportunities that both goals brought to the group, then transitioned to discussions about future goals for TPYP. Within small groups, everyone had the opporunity to share their personal and professional goals, and discuss ideas for how TPYP can be best structured going forward to guide those goals.
Think Like a CEO: Lessons from Leadership
Moving on, the group heard from Presdient and CEO, Bill Bosch and Senior Vice President of Strategic Relationships, Randy Van Rooyen in a “Think Like a CEO” session. Both Bill and Randy shared past experiences that have shaped their (and others’) careers and what lessons were learned. They inspired the group not to be afraid of challenges or new opportunities, but to reflect on these situations afterwards for future improvement.
Collaborative Problem-Solving
After a short lunch break, new small groups were formed to allow for discussions on hypothetical problem scenarios and what leadership characteristics could be taken in each instance. Each group was able to share their group’s problem solving ideas and gain further insights from the larger group.
Exploring Influence Without Authority
The group then welcomed a local external speaker, Mike Hesch, Pesronal and Executive Coach, for an engaging and interactive presentation on “Influence Without Authority.” Mike explained why influence matters, different strategies that can be used to impact those around you, and what factors dilute influence. During the presentation, the group split in half to practice influence strategies in two hypothetical work scenarios of “Proposing a new training initiative” and “Getting buy-in from a resistant manager.” Mike encouraged the group to expand their knowledge on this topic and recommended resources to do so.
Celebrating TPYP Graduates
To round out the event, the group celebrated Lance Christian and Cassie Feller on their graduation from the group. Lance and Cassie shared some stories and reflections from their experiences in TPYP, plus bonus tips for all TPYP members to keep in mind during their career journey.
Looking Ahead: TPYP’s Continued Commitment to Growth
Trust Point is passionate about its young professionals, and TPYP continues to provide an environment that fosters connections, growth, and opportunities. This event fostered great communication between all members and leadership to gain insights on how the group can continue providing value and fulfilling its mission.
