A look back at Trust Point’s history showcases a story of service and growth. From the determination to stay open to serve clients during the Great Depression, to opening two new offices and a new division over the past century, service has always remained at our core. Trust Point is Wisconsin’s oldest and largest independent trust company, privately held, and still owned by some of the original founding families. Here is a look back in time…

110 Years Celebrated in 2023

Since our founding in 1913, Trust Point has been successful by following a simple philosophy: “In doing what is best for our client, we will be doing what is best for Trust Point.” As we look forward to the next 110 years, we expect a lot will change. One thing that won’t change is our dedication to doing what is best for those we serve.

1913

Six men with ties to banking started La Crosse Trust Company on June 30th, 1913 located on 311 Main Street in La Crosse, Wisconsin
Started with only one financial advisor, one accountant, 12 cloth bound ledgers, and $50,000 in capital

1930

The La Crosse Community Trust, now known as the La Crosse Community Foundation, was created by request of the La Crosse County Bar Association

1933

President Roosevelt demanded all banks close, but Trust Point defied the request so that widows and orphans could still receive their money
Trust Point was one of the only banks to stay open during the Great Depression

1955

Added Retirement Saving Plans

1960s

50 years in business
$16 million assets under management (AUM)
First woman officer hired

1980s

Started offering support to women by giving financial advice
$225 million assets under management
Trust Service Bank Network Established

1990s

Changed name to North Central Trust Company
First website launches in 1998

2000s

Kent Handel is named President and CEO
$1 billion assets under management
45 employees
After 71 years of success, the La Crosse Community Foundation establishes itself as its own entity

2003

Minneapolis Office Opened

2004

The company relocates from it’s founding location to 230 Front St. N in La Crosse, WI

2008

Changed name to Trust Point Inc.
Received Association of Fundraising Professionals 2008 President’s Award

2013

Acquired Anchor Bank’s Trust division
100th Anniversary

2014

Keys to Success Campaign & Car Giveaway

Volume one of the Trust Point Magazine released

$4 billion assets under management
Trust Point grows to over 75 employees
Trust Point Family Office division opened

2018

Designated Trust Point Family Office space opened in the Minneapolis office
Eau Claire Office Opened

Bill Bosch named President
Kent Handel becomes Chairman of the Board
Emerj360, a division of Trust Point, launches to expand services and provide additional financial education and resources

Bill Bosch named CEO
Volume 5 of Trust Point Magazine released
