Going for a walk around the block is something that many of us may take for granted. But Karter Goodchild’s family knows that is a gift.
From being told that Karter would never be able to swallow, breathe, see, hear, walk, or talk on his own, to Karter now being six years old and walking with robot legs, his family shares his story hoping it will help other families who have children with medically complex conditions.
Karter has quadriplegia cerebral palsy, and is unable to walk without his special pair of “robot legs” that can be controlled through a tablet. But, Karter’s family knows that not all families with children impacted by similar conditions are fortunate enough to have access to resources for “robot legs” like Karter walks with. Hence, they created the Kourageous Karter Foundation, a nonprofit organization to help families raising children with severe neurological conditions. Karter’s mother, Tiffany, helps families of children with disabilities obtain similar insurance and medical assistance resources she was able to obtain for Karter.
The foundation also organizes fundraisers, such as Race for Robot Legs, which will be held on September 24, 2022 in St Paul, MN.
Trust Point is honored to sponsor this event that will help raise money to allow another Minnesota child the experience of walking assisted by “robot legs,” from Trexo Robotics.
