Trust Point Young Professionals met in October to discuss long range planning and strategy.

Minneapolis, MN, October 11, 2019:  Trust Point Young Professionals (TPYP) group recently met at Trust Point’s Minneapolis office to lay out a game plan for the future.   TPYP was created based on the vision of Kent Handel, Trust Point’s CEO.  He understood the importance of cultivating future leaders for management and leadership roles not only within the Company, but also in the community.  The TPYP group was created in early 2018 and has been meeting quarterly with three main areas of focus; professional development, networking opportunities, and community involvement.

The group started the September meeting volunteering at Feed My Starving Children before heading back to the office.  The afternoon’s agenda was devoted to discussions which culminated with a long-range plan that outlines the next three years for TPYP and aligns with Trust Point’s overall strategic plan.

“This group excites me,” Kent says.  “These young professionals are very engaged and have a strong desire to learn and grow within their careers.  They are helping us preserve the legacy that has sustained Trust Point for more than 100 years while helping us chart the future for the next 100 years.”

Hilary Whitaker was a founding TPYP committee member and encourages all of Trust Point’s new young professionals to become involved in the group.  “It has been a little over two years since I started with Trust Point and I was pulled into the planning committee very early.  I have witnessed the growth and development of my co-workers, but I also know the impact it is having on my career.  I have never been at a company that has devoted this much energy into their employees and been so forward-thinking.”

Trust Point is bucking-the-trend when it comes to employee retention in large part because of this initiative.  There is 100% retention within the TPYP group.  Kent further states, “We know that this group will be well equipped to handle the relationships we have worked diligently to build with our clients.  This training will allow for us to continue to consistently deliver on our core values and provide exceptional service to our clients well into the future.”

The Trust Point Young Professionals group is currently made up of 25 employees.    To be involved, the employee must be under 35 years old, have been employed by Trust Point for at least 90 days, and must complete a separate application and interview process detailing why they want to be a part of the group and what they hope to get out of it.
