The past year has been challenging for small business owners, especially the Hmong farmer vendors. “Cooking With Bao” is a fundraiser that will help relieve these farmers with some of the financial impacts from the pandemic.
This fundraiser includes a variety of activities throughout including live streamed cooking shows with Bao Xiong. Bao will be teaching Hmong and Hmong American recipes with ingredients found at local farmers markets and co-ops.
Even though many Hmong farmers faced financial difficulty in 2020, they still donated to the Hunger Task Force and other food banks on a regular basis. This year, their financial struggle continued. As the planting season began, many farmers struggled when needing to purchase seeds, plant starters, supplies, land rental, and equipment maintenance.
The money raised through “Cooking With Bao” will help relieve some of the financial stress from the pandemic.
